Israel Hamas Clash: FBI ‘won’t hesitate’ to adjust its “security posture” to safeguard the US citizens

Following the terrorist assaults by Hamas on Israel on Tuesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that it is looking into any potential threats to the security of American residents due to the ongoing war. The FBI made it clear that, if necessary, the agency would adjust its “security posture” in order to preserve the lives of American citizens in a post on X (previously Twitter).

“While the FBI does not have specific and credible intelligence indicating a threat to the United States stemming from the Hamas attacks in Israel, we are closely monitoring unfolding events and will share relevant information with our state, local, federal, and international law enforcement, intelligence, and homeland security partners to ensure they are prepared for any impacts to public safety,” the FBI said.

“We will not hesitate to adjust our security posture, as appropriate, to protect the American people. We are closely coordinating with our counterparts in the region as well as other international partners,” it added.

The investigating agency added that its Israeli Legal Attache office was actively collaborating with colleagues there to find and identify US Americans who had been harmed by the terrorist assaults.

“Through our Legal Attache’ office in Israel, FBI personnel are working with our partners on the ground to locate and identify any impacted Americans. Reports of deceased, injured, or missing Americans are being treated with the utmost urgency and aggressively investigated,” the FBI said.

It also said, “The FBI’s Victim Services Division is coordinating with the Department of State to assist, as necessary, with family engagement.”

The death toll from the Hamas’s multifaceted terror strikes passed 900 on Tuesday, and 2400 injuries were reported, according to The Times of Israel, even as Israel resumed its aerial assault on Gaza and began a ground incursion.

Since last Saturday, Israeli forces have attacked 1707 Hamas targets in Gaza, including 475 missile launchers, 73 command posts, 23 important infrastructure locations, and 22 underground targets. Over 400 individuals have been killed by Israeli forces in the constrained Gaza Strip as a result of the terror acts.

In the last 48 hours, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) mobilized 3,000 men as part of the counteroffensive. In announcing the mobilization of forces, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated that the IDF “has never mobilized so many reservists so quickly — 300,000 reservists in 48 hours.”
