Israel has targeted over 50 Hezbollah sites in Syria and 3,400 in Lebanon since the conflict with Hamas in Gaza began in October.
The Israeli army has attacked these targets from ground and air, spreading throughout Syria and southern Lebanon.
Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said, “Since the beginning of the war, we have attacked, from the ground and air, more than 50 such targets of Hezbollah spread throughout Syria”, adding that more than 3,400 similar strikes against the group had taken place in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah, an ally of Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas, has long fought alongside Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the conflict.
Israel has vowed to prevent Iran’s influence in Syria, despite not commenting on specific strikes. Since the start of the Hamas-Israeli conflict on October 7, daily fire exchanges have occurred, primarily between the Israeli army and Hezbollah.
At least 218 people have been killed in Lebanon, with over 200 terrorists and commanders killed in Israeli strikes.
Late on Friday, the United States started air attacks against Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq and Syria, retaliating for a drone attack that killed three US soldiers in Jordan.
The US military claimed to have hit 85 targets across seven sites in Syria and Iraq. The strikes killed at least 29 pro-Iranian combatants in Syria and 16 persons in Iraq, including civilians.
Since mid-October, US and ally troops have been targeted over 165 times in Iraq, Syria, and Jordan, as Iran-backed armed groups are outraged by the US’s support for Israel in the Gaza conflict.
