Iran announced on Tuesday a visa-free programme for Indian tourists arriving by plane for a maximum stay of 15 days.
The Iranian embassy noted that visa-free entry has been rolled out for Indian citizens from February 4 under four conditions.
In December, Iran authorized a new visa-free programme for India and 32 additional countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia.
According to the Iranian statement, those were regular passports will be able to enter the nation without a visa once every six months, for a maximum stay of 15 days.
“It is important to note that the 15 days cannot be extended”, the statement reads.
It went on to say, “The visa abolition only applies to individuals entering the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran for tourism purposes”.
It stated that Indians who wish to stay for a longer period make multiple entries within six months or require other sorts of visas must obtain the requisite permits from Iranian missions in India.
“The visa abolition outlined in this approval specifically applies to Indian nationals who enter the country just through the air border”, the statement continued.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar flew to Iran last month when he met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to discuss a variety of bilateral and regional concerns.
