An all-party Indian Parliamentary delegation, led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, successfully concluded its official visit to Spain, firmly conveying India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.
The delegation’s mission formed a crucial part of India’s international diplomatic campaign to promote global cooperation against terrorism and reinforce bilateral partnerships.
Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Spain stated that the delegation’s engagements were effective in strengthening mutual understanding with Spanish leaders and institutions.
“The visit of All-Party Parliamentary Delegation to Spain was successful in effectively conveying India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism to government leaders, lawmakers, civil society and the Indian diaspora- strengthening bilateral ties and mutual understanding,” the embassy posted on X.
As part of its outreach, the delegation held a roundtable discussion with Spanish intellectuals, academicians, think-tank representatives, and civil society organisations.
The meeting, hosted by Spain and India, provided a platform for strategic dialogue on combating terrorism globally.
The embassy noted, “The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation met with intellectuals, academicians, think tanks and civil society representatives at a discussion hosted by @Spain_India. During the meeting, they reiterated India’s firm stance against terrorism and its unwavering commitment to global peace. Members of the foundation expressed staunch support for India’s efforts and discussed strategies to combat terrorism.”
On Monday, the delegation met with members of the Association of Victims of Terrorism (AVT)—a Spanish organisation supporting those affected by terror attacks.
During the interaction, Indian MPs shared insights into India’s experience in confronting cross-border threats and emphasised a shared resolve to build a safer and more compassionate world.
The AVT, founded in 1981, supports over 4,800 members, many of whom have received little to no compensation.
Furthermore, the dialogue reflected a shared empathy and commitment to victim support and anti-terror advocacy.
The delegation included MPs from a broad political spectrum: Rajeev Rai (Samajwadi Party), Captain Brijesh Chowta (Retd, BJP), Prem Chand Gupta (RJD), Ashok Kumar Mittal (AAP), and former Indian diplomat Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri.
Moreover, their unified message underscored a national consensus on counter-terrorism and international cooperation.
In continuation of this effort, the Spain visit marked the final leg of the delegation’s international tour, which began on 22 May.
Earlier stops included Latvia, Greece, Slovenia, and Russia, all aimed at highlighting ‘Operation Sindoor’- India’s strategic and calibrated response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
As the delegation returns to Delhi, its engagements have reinforced India’s diplomatic messaging and consolidated international support for its efforts to combat terrorism with resolve and responsibility.
