Indian Diaspora Has Preserved India’s Cultural Heritage, Says PM Modi In New Zealand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised the Indian diaspora in New Zealand for preserving India’s rich cultural heritage. He said they have kept Indian traditions alive across generations and continents.

In his statement, PM Modi shared highlights from the community reception in Auckland.

The Prime Minister said he was delighted to witness vibrant cultural performances celebrating India’s diverse traditions.

PM Modi said the programme featured vibrant performances from Punjab and Tamil Nadu. He also highlighted a fusion of Carnatic and Hindustani classical music.

PM Modi praised the stirring rendition of Vande Mataram. He commended the Indian diaspora for preserving India’s cultural heritage and strengthening India-New Zealand friendship.

The Prime Minister also applauded the Naad Vocal Ensemble for its memorable musical performance.

In another statement, PM Modi said music possesses the unique power to unite people and added that the presentation beautifully reflected the warmth and depth of India-New Zealand relations.

The Ministry of External Affairs also highlighted the enthusiastic welcome extended to PM Modi by the Indian community upon his arrival at his Auckland hotel.

In its statement, the MEA said the reception featured vibrant Indian classical music performances. It also showcased traditional dances from different regions, highlighting India’s rich cultural diversity.

Earlier, PM Modi said the overwhelming affection shown by the Indian community deeply touched him.

The Prime Minister noted that the diaspora had waited four decades for the visit of an Indian Prime Minister and displayed extraordinary enthusiasm throughout the welcome. He said their unwavering bond with India remained strong.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Auckland for the final leg of his three-nation tour. New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon personally received PM Modi at the airport.

The visit marks the first official trip by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in 40 years.
