Indian Delegation Meets Priti Patel In London; Reaffirms Strong Anti-Terror Stand

A multi-party Indian Parliamentary delegation, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, held a key meeting in London with UK Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel and her team.

The discussions focused on enhancing India-UK cooperation in counter-terrorism.

The delegation presented ‘Operation Sindoor’ as an example of India’s firm and proactive stance in responding to cross-border terrorism.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Indian Embassy in London confirmed the meeting, noting that the delegation reiterated India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.

The conversation with Patel reflected growing momentum in bilateral discussions around strategic and security matters.

Earlier, the delegation received a detailed briefing from Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, who outlined the current status of India-UK relations, especially on the terrorism front.

Marking the 75th anniversary of the adoption of India’s Constitution, the MPs visited the Ambedkar Museum in London – the historic residence of Dr BR Ambedkar, which has been preserved by the Indian government.

The visit also recalled the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, which coincided with Constitution Day, highlighting the continued threat posed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and the symbolic significance of India’s democratic resilience.

Honouring Gandhi’s Legacy

The delegation then paid floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Tavistock Square Gardens.

Emphasising Gandhiji’s principles, the members collectively reaffirmed that terrorism can never be justified and must be condemned universally.

Later in the evening, the delegation engaged with members of the Indian diaspora at India House.

The interaction reinforced India’s united political will to fight terrorism, with special mention of ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a new benchmark for swift, decisive responses to terror threats.

The delegation also discussed India’s growing global stature and the importance of the diaspora in supporting the nation’s democratic and security values.

The delegation included prominent MPs across political lines, BJP’s Daggubati Purandeswari, Samik Bhattacharya, and Ghulam Ali Khatana; Shiv Sena-UBT’s Priyanka Chaturvedi; Congress’s Amar Singh; former Union Minister MJ Akbar; former Ambassador Pankaj Saran; and AIADMK’s M Thambidurai.

Ravi Shankar Prasad expressed his sentiments on visiting the Ambedkar Museum, calling it an honour to pay homage to the principal architect of the Indian Constitution.

BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana and others echoed the sentiment, underscoring the enduring relevance of Ambedkar’s vision for equality, justice, and democracy.

The engagements throughout the visit demonstrated the growing strength of India-UK relations, particularly on matters of shared security concerns and democratic values.

The visit was a strategic exercise in diplomacy and cultural connection, reinforcing India’s stand as a decisive and united nation against terrorism.
