India called for “restraint by all concerned” on Wednesday while expressing deep concern over the escalating security situation in West Asia. This statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) follows Iran’s missile attack on Israel on Tuesday night.
“We are deeply concerned about the escalation of the security situation in West Asia and reiterate our call for restraint by all parties and the protection of civilians,” the MEA stated. Although the statement did not specify any country, it highlighted the increasing tensions across the Middle East.
The MEA emphasized the need to prevent the conflict from widening into a broader regional crisis, urging all parties to resolve issues through dialogue and diplomacy.

Last week, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed the geopolitical situation in the region with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi during the BRICS meeting held alongside the UN General Assembly in New York.
In response to the ongoing crisis, the MEA issued a travel advisory earlier in the day, advising Indian citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran. “We are closely monitoring the recent escalation in the security situation in the region,” the advisory stated, recommending that Indian nationals currently in Iran remain vigilant and maintain contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.
The travel advisory came after Iran launched approximately 200 missiles at Israel, targeting what it described as “military and security establishments.” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned, “This action was in defense of the interests and citizens of Iran. Let Netanyahu know that Iran is not a belligerent, but it stands firmly against any threat. This is only a corner of our power. Do not enter into a conflict with Iran.”
