The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday the killing of top Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah during a targeted airstrike in Beirut. Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets executed the strike at Hezbollah’s Central Headquarters, reportedly located underground beneath a residential building in the Dahieh area, claiming the life of Ali Karki, Commander of Hezbollah’s Southern Front.
Israeli officials stated that the airstrike followed precise intelligence indicating that senior Hezbollah commanders were present and actively planning terrorist activities against Israel.

In a statement, the IDF highlighted Nasrallah’s 32-year tenure as Secretary-General of Hezbollah, noting his responsibility for numerous attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers.
“Nasrallah was the central decision-maker and the strategic leader of the organization,” the IDF declared, emphasizing his role in directing and executing terrorist operations globally that resulted in civilian casualties.
The Israeli military further asserted that under Nasrallah’s leadership, Hezbollah had allied with Hamas in its conflict against Israel, which escalated following the October 8 attack.
The IDF accused Hezbollah of continuing unprovoked assaults on Israeli citizens, contributing to a wider regional conflict.
The airstrike marks a significant escalation in the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, as tensions remain high in the region.
