During his three-day visit to South Africa for the 15th BRICS summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcased India’s rich heritage and cultural diplomacy by presenting special gifts to several prominent leaders.

The Surahi, adorned with detailed patterns and inlaid with pure Silver wire, exemplifies the intricate craftsmanship that goes into its creation, symbolizing the amalgamation of artistry and heritage.

Modi gifted a Naga shawl To first lady of South Africa

To the first lady of South Africa, Tshepo Motsepe, Prime Minister Modi gifted a Naga shawl—a masterpiece of textile art woven by Nagaland’s tribal communities for centuries. The shawl’s geometric and symbolic designs, woven from locally sourced materials like cotton, silk, and wool, reflect the tribe’s myths, legends, and beliefs, preserving their cultural heritage.

PM gifts Gond Painting from Madhya Pradesh to Brazilian President

In a gesture of cultural exchange, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received a Gond painting from Madhya Pradesh. Gond paintings, a revered tribal art form, are created with meticulous dots and lines, depicting the essence of nature and life. Rooted in the Gond culture, these artworks utilize natural colors and materials to tell stories of tradition and harmony.

BRICS as a symbol of global unity

Addressing the BRICS summit, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of adapting to changing times and the expansion of BRICS as a symbol of global unity. He expressed India’s support for welcoming new members, strengthening the organization, and fostering common endeavors among member nations.

Highlighted the collaborative efforts

The 15th BRICS Summit, hosted by South Africa in Johannesburg from August 22 to 24, highlighted the collaborative efforts of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Under the theme “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism,” the summit aimed to forge stronger ties between the member nations.

Modi’s diplomatic journey

Following his engagement at the BRICS summit, Prime Minister Modi’s diplomatic journey continues as he travels to Greece at the invitation of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The visit underscores India’s commitment to strengthening global partnerships. During his stay in Greece, Prime Minister Modi will participate in ceremonial receptions, engage in meetings with Greek leaders, and explore avenues to deepen bilateral ties between the two nations.
