From Kesar Mangoes To Rogan Art: PM Modi’s Unique Gifts To UAE Royal Family

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented specially curated Indian gifts to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and members of the UAE royal family during his visit to Abu Dhabi, highlighting India’s rich cultural traditions, regional craftsmanship and agricultural heritage.

Prime Minister Modi gifted the UAE President GI-tagged Kesar mangoes from Gujarat, renowned for their saffron-coloured pulp, rich aroma and fibreless texture.

Popularly called the ‘Queen of Mangoes’, Kesar mangoes remain closely associated with Gujarat’s hospitality and culinary traditions.

The Prime Minister also presented a Rogan painting featuring the Tree of Life motif from Gujarat’s Kutch region.

Rogan art is a rare textile painting tradition known for intricate handmade designs and vibrant patterns.

The Tree of Life symbolises harmony, continuity and strength, reflecting values shared by both India and the UAE.

Alongside these gifts, Prime Minister Modi presented GI-tagged Meghalaya pineapples, celebrated for their sweetness, low acidity and rich nutritional value.

Officials said the pineapples reflected India’s agricultural diversity and focus on natural produce.

For the UAE Queen Mother, Prime Minister Modi gifted a Karimnagar filigree silver box crafted using India’s traditional nakkashi metalwork technique.

The handcrafted silver chest featured ceremonial motifs and showcased intricate repoussé craftsmanship associated with Telangana’s artisan traditions.

Prime Minister Modi also gifted Maheshwari silk from Madhya Pradesh and Chak Hao or ‘Black Rice’ from Manipur, known for its rich texture and nutritional value.

To UAE Crown Prince Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, PM Modi presented GI-tagged Mithila makhana and a ceremonial dagger featuring traditional Koftgari metalwork crafted with gold and silver inlay.

Officials said the gifts highlighted India’s cultural diversity, craftsmanship and strong ties with the UAE.
