From Europe To North America, Leaders Applaud PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received congratulatory messages from leaders across the world on Wednesday after becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, surpassing the tenure record of Jawaharlal Nehru with 4,399 days in office.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz congratulated PM Modi on the milestone and expressed his commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Germany.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also extended his wishes, saying he looked forward to working together as the two countries renewed their partnership.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis praised PM Modi’s achievement and said he hoped to deepen cooperation between India and Greece while strengthening ties between Europe and Asia.

Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described the achievement as a remarkable milestone in the world’s largest democracy and wished PM Modi continued success in serving the people of India.

Additionally, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai also congratulated the Prime Minister and acknowledged the trust repeatedly placed in him by Indian voters.

Former Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar highlighted India’s economic growth, poverty reduction, infrastructure development, welfare initiatives and women’s empowerment during Prime Minister Modi’s tenure, describing it as a consequential period for the country.

US Senator John Cornyn termed PM Modi’s tenure ‘nothing short of transformational’ and praised his role in strengthening India-US relations. He cited India’s economic growth and poverty alleviation efforts while noting the growing strength of the bilateral partnership.

UK MP Bob Blackman lauded PM Modi’s leadership, recalling his role in transforming Gujarat into an economic powerhouse before bringing similar governance initiatives to the national level.

In a video message, Blackman credited PM Modi for improving the lives of millions and leading one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. He also praised India’s progress under PM Modi’s leadership and congratulated him on the historic milestone.

PM Modi achieved the record on June 10, becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history while marking 12 years at the helm of the Union government.
