Flooding In Myanmar Claims 113 Lives, 64 Missing

Severe flooding in Myanmar has resulted in 113 deaths and 64 people missing, according to the State Administration Council’s Information Team. The flood has severely impacted several regions, including Nay Pyi Taw, Kayah State, Kayin State, Bago Region, Magway Region, Mandalay Region, Mon State, Shan State, and Ayeyarwady Region.

As of the evening of September 14, the disaster has affected over 72,900 homes and 78,000 households, displacing more than 320,000 individuals to temporary shelters across the country. Rescue and rehabilitation efforts are ongoing, with the government working to support those affected.

Earlier reports indicate that a storm triggered these floods, leading to 33 deaths and the displacement of over 230,000 people. The Tatmadaw (Myanmar Army) True News Information Team reported that 34 townships, including Nay Pyi Taw, have been hit by the floods, displacing 236,649 people from 59,413 households.

In response, 187 flood shelters have been established to accommodate the displaced victims. Efforts continue to provide relief and support to those affected by this devastating natural disaster.
