CBI Uncovers Evidence Of Sandip Ghosh’s Alleged Misconduct Before RG Kar Medical College Appointment

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has unearthed significant evidence regarding Sandip Ghosh’s alleged misconduct prior to his appointment as the principal of RG Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata.

Investigative sources reveal that Ghosh, during his tenure as medical superintendent and vice principal (MSVP) at Calcutta National Medical College & Hospital, was subject to several complaints.

One major issue involved his dual role; despite holding a non-practising position and receiving a non-practising allowance from the state, he reportedly continued private medical practice at various hospitals, generating additional income.

Furthermore, sources indicate that the state health department seemingly overlooked these complaints.

Another grievance against Ghosh was his unauthorized trip to Dubai, funded by a private company supplying medical equipment to the hospital, which occurred without the requisite permission from the state health department.

The CBI questions why authorities did not conduct departmental investigations despite numerous complaints against Ghosh.

The probe has also highlighted the surprising fact that Ghosh was later promoted to the principal position at RG Kar Medical College despite these allegations.

This scrutiny follows the brutal rape and murder of a junior doctor at the hospital on 9 August.

Following this, Ghosh tendered his resignation as principal and from state health services.

Interestingly, on the evening of his resignation, the state health department announced Ghosh’s appointment to a new position at CNMCH, where he previously faced several complaints.

However, a division bench of the Calcutta High Court has since barred Ghosh from assuming any principal role at state-run medical colleges pending further court orders.
