Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a telephone conversation on Sunday to address the recent escalation in the Middle East. According to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the discussion focused on strategies for de-escalating tensions while safeguarding the region’s security, stability, and the interests of its people.

The ministers also deliberated on measures to prevent further regional confrontations and exchanged views on mutual concerns. This dialogue comes as tensions rise following the assassination of Hamas Politburo Chief Ismail Haniyeh early Wednesday, when an attack targeted his residence in Tehran.

Additionally, an alleged Israeli attack on Dahieh in Beirut’s southern suburbs, which resulted in the deaths of Hezbollah military commander Fouad Shokor and seven civilians, has further contributed to the regional unrest.
