BRS Leader K.T. Rama Rao Condemns Dalit Women Torture In Police Station

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has strongly condemned the Dalit woman torture in Police station of Telangana. The BRS demanded that a case under SC and ST atrocity laws be filed against the officers involved.

K.T. Rama Rao, BRS working president, took to X to call for strict action and justice for the victim. He criticized the Congress government, calling it anti-Dalit and anti-women. Rama Rao accused the Congress administration of failing to protect marginalized communities.

The incident occurred on July 24 but only came to public attention on August 4. A 34-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly tortured at the Shadnagar Police Station in the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate. She had been summoned for questioning in connection with a theft case involving gold and cash.

The woman was reportedly assaulted in front of her minor son. According to her account, her husband was beaten and then released. The woman was forced to remove her sari and wear shorts. She claimed the police tied her hands and legs before assaulting her. Despite her pleas, she was not spared.

Following these allegations, Shadnagar Inspector (Detective) A. Ramireddy has been suspended and reassigned to the commissionerate headquarters pending an inquiry. The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Shadnagar is leading the investigation.

The victim was questioned about a theft involving 20 tolas of gold and Rs 2 lakh in cash. She alleged that the police tortured her to force a confession. After six hours of confinement and torture, she was released when she nearly lost consciousness.

The woman wished to seek medical help but faced threats from the family accusing her of theft. They allegedly threatened to burn her and her family if she left.
