External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Wednesday for what was described as a “productive” talk. Jaishankar shared insights from the meeting on X, emphasizing the fruitful exchange regarding bilateral cooperation and global political dynamics.
While a formal readout from the White House is still pending, the State Department indicated that the two officials focused on several key areas. They reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties, coordinating on both regional and global challenges, and enhancing collaboration on critical and emerging technologies.

This meeting follows a series of engagements Jaishankar has had with senior Biden administration officials during his visit to Washington, after addressing the UN General Assembly in New York. Notably, he met with Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday, where Blinken highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Kyiv and reiterated the need for a “just and lasting peace” in Ukraine.
Following his meeting with Sullivan, Jaishankar also took to X to express his appreciation for his discussion with Gordon, writing, “Appreciated the conversation on our bilateral ties and various global developments.” Gordon elaborated in a longer post, noting, “Great to meet this week with Minister @DrSJaishankar of India. We took stock of important progress in the U.S.-India relationship, including our growing defense and technology cooperation. We also discussed regional security issues in the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe.”
Additionally, Jaishankar and Sullivan discussed plans to enhance collaboration on clean energy initiatives, reflecting a shared commitment to addressing the global climate crisis—an issue that is increasingly pressing on the international agenda.
