Cuba announced late Saturday that it has foiled a terrorist plan hatched in neighboring South Florida after a man allegedly arrived on the island by jetski to execute violent crimes.
The inquiry is still ongoing, including allegations that the conspiracy was linked to at least two groups, Nueva Nacion Cubana and La Nueva Nacion Cubana en Armas, which Cuba has designated as terrorist organizations.
According to the reports, one of the guys detained, who participated in the show but whose identity was not revealed, was armed with several handguns, ammunition clips, and bullets.
Before his arrest, the individual attempted to recruit people to help him commit acts of violence, arson, and vandalism.
According to state-run media, several more Cubans living in both South Florida and Cuba are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the scheme.
The claims came just two days after Cuba issued a list of more than 80 foreign nationals and groups accused of terrorism, including influencers, several long-time dissidents living in the United States, and a contender for mayor of Miami-Dade County in Florida.
