ISIS suicide bomber
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) announced on Friday that it has detained the suicide bomber and ISIS handler in Peshawar, Afghanistan. The group was preparing to attack Pakistan’s mainstream politicians in advance of the parliamentary elections on February 8.
SSP Operations CTD Najmul Husnain Liaquat while addressing a press conference here said the police have captured the suicide bomber and the handler linked with the international terrorist outfit ISIS who have acquired sufficient training from Afghanistan.
The Awami National Party (ANP) Provincial President Aimal Wali Khan and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUIF) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman were the two terrorists who were apprehended during an intelligence-based operation in Peshawar, the official stated.
Both are running for office in the districts of Dikhan and Charsadda from their respective seats. Three hand grenades, two suicide vests, and a revolver chambered in nine millimeters were taken from the accused by the CTD Team.

Following an operation in the Mattani Maira region, the CTD apprehended the bomber, identified as Adil, and detained the handler, Tahir Khan, from the Achini neighborhood on the bomber’s recommendation.
The CTD Operations Chief continued, “Both terrorists admitted in their initial statements that they had targeted Maulana Fazlur Rahman and Aimal Wali Khan during the election campaign.”
The JUIF and ANP have both adopted strong stances against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and publicly denounced the imprisoned Imran Khan-led administration (2018–2022) for allowing the terrorist group to reorganize in the nation.
The Interior Ministry has issued red alert threats against both leaders. As of right now, Maulana Fazlur Rahman is the sole prominent politician advocating for delaying the voting process because of the lax law and order in the province’s southern regions, which include Lakki Marwat, DIKHAN, Bannu, and Tank district.
