China launches “fastest internet in the world,” with a network that can send 150 HD movies in a second

Two years ahead of industry expectations, China has developed the “world’s fastest internet service,” which is more than ten times quicker than main routes now in use. The network serves as a main data conduit between several of China’s most significant cities, including Beijing, Wuhan, and Guangzhou, and has the capacity to transfer data at 1.2 terabits (1,200 gigabits) per second between cities located at opposite ends of the nation.

The 3,000 km internet line is spread out. Activated in July, it passed all operational testing and was formally launched last week, defying industry estimates that 1 terabit per second ultra-high-speed networks would not appear until approximately 2025.

The result of a partnership between Tsinghua University, China Mobile, Huawei Technologies, and Cernet Corporation is the “world’s fastest internet network”.

The superfast line was “not only a successful operation,” according to Wu Jianping, the Chinese Academy of Engineering’s project chief, but it also provides China with “advanced technology to build an even faster internet.”

The network was “capable of transferring the data equivalent of 150 high-definition films in just one second,” according to Wang Lei, vice-president of Huawei Technologies. The new internet service, according to Xu Mingwei of Tsinghua University, is like a speedy rail track that has replaced ten normal tracks that could previously carry the same amount of data. He said, “This made it much cheaper and easier to manage.”

China has been worried about its reliance on the US and Japan for routers and other internet technology components, so this discovery is a huge boost for the country.
