The National Department of Defence of Canada stated on Saturday that Israel was not responsible for the October 17 Al-Ahli hospital strike in Gaza.
In a statement, it stated, “Analysis conducted independently by the Canadian Forces Intelligence Command indicates with a high degree of confidence that Israel did not strike the Al-Ahli hospital on 17 October 2023”.
According to a review of open source and classified reporting, the strike was more likely caused by an errant rocket fired from Gaza.
The findings of Canada are comparable to those of France and the United States.
Canada stated that their evaluation is based on an examination of the blast damage to the hospital complex, including nearby buildings and the surrounding region, as well as the inbound munition’s flight pattern.
As per the report, 471 people were killed in the Tuesday blast at Al-Ahli al-Arabi Hospital. Gaza’s health ministry accused Israel, while Israel stated the explosion was caused by a failed Palestinian rocket fire.
