Former US President Bill Clinton, 78, has been admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital after developing a fever, according to a statement from his deputy chief of staff, Angel Urena.
Urena assured the public that Clinton is in good spirits and remains ‘awake and alert’ as doctors conduct tests and monitor his condition.
“Former President Clinton is doing well and is hopeful to return home by Christmas,” Urena told CNN.
Clinton, who served as the 42nd President of the United States from 1993 to 2001, was at his Washington residence when the responsible individual decided to take him to the hospital.
While he has to stay overnight, his medical team is optimistic about his recovery.
Throughout the years, Clinton has faced several health challenges, including:
In 2021, he wa hospitalized for a severe blood infection but made a full recovery after six days in the hospital.
Despite these health issues, Clinton has remained active in the public eye, including speaking at the Democratic National Convention this summer and promoting his recent book, ‘Citizen: My Life After the White House’.
During his 13th address at the Democratic National Convention in August, Clinton remarked, “Let me say, not a single day goes by, even though I’ve gone for well over 23 years from the White House, not a day goes that I don’t thank the Lord for the chance I had to serve, and what it meant.”
A spokesperson for Clinton expressed gratitude for the medical care he is receiving and thanked the public for their support.
