On Monday, authorities arrested the sister of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on suspicion of terror charges.
Police say that they arrested the 57-year-old woman in a joint raid with the Shin Bet.
During the raid, law enforcement found documents, media, telephones, and other evidence connecting the suspect to severe security offenses against the State of Israel.
Police in the statement did not identify the suspect, who is a resident of the southern town of Tel Sheva.
The Shin Bet said she was arrested on suspicion of having contact with Hamas operatives.
She will be brought to a Be’er-Sheva Magistrate’s Court for a hearing to extend her detention.
Ismail Haniyeh, who lives in Qatar, has three sisters, all Israeli nationals who live in Tel Sheva.
At least 1,200 people were killed and 240 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on 7 October. Of the remaining 134 hostages, Israel recently declared 31 of them dead.
