A cross-party Indian Parliamentary delegation led by Janata Dal-United MP Sanjay Kumar Jha paid tributes to freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Hindu philosopher Swami Vivekananda during their official visit to Malaysia.
The delegation’s engagements in Kuala Lumpur marked a significant moment of cultural diplomacy and reaffirmed India’s firm stand against terrorism through the strategic outreach of ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The delegation visited the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre (NSCBICC) in Brickfields, where they laid floral tributes in honour of Netaji.
They also had the privilege of interacting with SP Narayanasamy, a veteran of the Indian National Army (INA) and a member of the INA’s Balak Sena.
The delegation expressed profound gratitude for his contributions to India’s freedom struggle.
The team also visited the Ramakrishna Mission in Petaling Jaya, where they paid floral tributes at the statue of Swami Vivekananda.
The 12-foot bronze statue, unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, stands as a symbol of India–Malaysia friendship and the enduring values of spiritual strength and civilizational unity.
The visit also served to reiterate India’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
In a briefing by High Commissioner BN Reddy, the delegation discussed India-Malaysia bilateral relations and the messaging around ‘Operation Sindoor’, which was launched following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.\
During interactions with the Indian diaspora, the delegation spoke about India’s right to defend itself and pre-empt future threats.
Community members, including Malaysian Indian Muslims, strongly condemned terrorism and pledged to amplify the message of unity.
In a media session with Malaysian journalists and influencers, the delegates discussed India’s evolving security doctrine, calling terrorism a global menace.
They also remembered the Malaysian national who perished in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, honouring her memory as a reminder of global solidarity against terror.
A dialogue was also held with a 15-member delegation from India’s National Defence College (NDC), which is visiting Malaysia on a study tour.
Their presence, alongside the parliamentary team, provided a platform to further disseminate India’s counter-terrorism approach and the goals of ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The delegation visited the Torana Gate in Little India, Brickfields, a gift from India, inaugurated by PM Modi in 2015.
Inspired by the Sanchi Stupa, the monument stands as a symbol of the deep-rooted cultural and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
They also engaged with members of the Malaysia-India Heritage Society, who presented a compendium celebrating the historical and cultural connections between both countries.
Through this multifaceted visit, the all-party delegation reaffirmed India’s message of cultural pride, strategic strength, and unwavering resolve against terrorism.
