Ajit Doval Holds Strategic Talks In Riyadh With Saudi Leadership

India’s NSA, Ajit Doval, travelled to Riyadh on Sunday for a series of high-level discussions with Saudi Arabia’s senior leadership. The talks focused on strengthening cooperation across security, energy and regional affairs.

The visit reflects the steady expansion of ties between India and Saudi Arabia as both countries seek closer coordination in a shifting geopolitical environment.

According to the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, the meetings addressed a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations, regional stability, and shared strategic interests.

During his visit, Doval met key Saudi officials such as Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and National Security Advisor Musaed Al-Aiban.

The embassy noted that the discussions aimed to reinforce cooperation in critical sectors, particularly energy security and regional coordination.

Taking to X, the Indian Embassy posted, “Hon’ble NSA Shri Ajit Doval paid an official visit to Riyadh on April 19. He was received at the Airport by Ambassador Dr Suhel Khan and Deputy Minister for Political Affairs @KSAmofaEN H.E. Ambassador Dr. Saud Al-Sati.”

“Later, he had meetings with Energy Minister H.R.H. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Foreign Minister H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan and National Security Advisor H.E. Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban. During the meetings they discussed bilateral relations, regional situation and other issues of mutual intrests,” the post read.

Doval’s trip comes as India continues to engage actively in global security matters.

Earlier in the week, he held talks with Rustem Umerov, a senior Ukrainian official. The meeting highlighted New Delhi’s ongoing dialogue with Kyiv during the conflict in Eastern Europe.

India has maintained its position in favour of resolving the crisis through diplomatic means.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated that discussions with Ukraine centred on bilateral cooperation as well as the broader conflict. He emphasised the need for a peaceful resolution.

Taken together, these engagements underline India’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with key nations. They also show its continued involvement in addressing both regional and international security challenges.
