7 Vehicles Collided In Australia, Causing 6 Injuries

Six people were sent to a hospital in Australia on Wednesday after an accident involving seven vehicles, including a semi-trailer transporting a US military tank for war simulations.

After the Wednesday morning incident on the Bruce Highway, north of Brisbane, police said three of the six people were suffering from suspected spinal injuries.

When police arrived, three of the vehicles were on fire, while the other four were extensively damaged.

The Abrams tank was scheduled to participate in the Talisman Sabre military exercise, which begins on Saturday and will involve 30,000 military personnel from Australia, the United States, and other countries in a series of live-fire simulations.

Witness Naomi Wells told the media that she observed a massive explosion of fire shortly after the crash.

“As I was talking to the emergency people there were at least four or five explosions that had been going off and they thought at the time it might have been the gas bottles”, she added, referring to one of the caravans involved in the collision.

The fire had spread to the surrounding grass area, but Queensland Fire and Emergency Services confirmed it had been extinguished.

According to police, the reason for the crash is being probed.
