Around 500 foreigners and dual nationals were evacuated from the Israeli-bombed Gaza Strip to Egypt, along with numerous injured Palestinians.
Rafah is the only non-Israel crossing out of Gaza, and it was closed on Friday and Saturday.
The great majority of Gaza’s 2.4 million Palestinians are unable to flee the conflict that erupted on October 7 between the territory’s Hamas rulers and Israel.
The Hamas leadership in Gaza’s border authority had ordered late Saturday for all foreign passport holders and people on evacuation lists to report to the terminal, which is located at the southern point of the Gaza Strip and leads to Egypt’s Sinai.
Hundreds of dual nationals and foreigners, including Americans, French, Russians, and Poles, have been evacuated to Egyptian hospitals since November 1.
According to the most recent Israeli figures, the bloodiest-ever Gaza war began on October 7 when Hamas fighters drove through the militarised border with Israel, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking about 240 people hostage.
As per the Israeli officials, there are at least 30 children among the hostages.
