22 Injured In Bus Crash On First Day Of Chuseok Holiday In South Korea

On the first day of the Chuseok holiday, a car crash in South Korea left 22 people injured. The accident occurred early Saturday morning in Busan, a port city in southeastern South Korea.

At around 6:56 a.m. local time, an express bus collided with a guardrail and struck a median strip on an expressway near a toll plaza. The collision caused significant damage and injuries to all 22 people aboard the bus, including the driver. Four individuals suffered serious injuries.

In a dramatic twist, two of the seriously injured were found on the opposite lane of the expressway after being ejected from the bus due to the crash’s force. Fortunately, their injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol.

As South Korea enters the Chuseok holiday—a time when many people travel to their hometowns to celebrate with family—traffic congestion is expected to increase nationwide. The police are working to piece together the details of the crash while ensuring that similar incidents are prevented.

The accident highlights the importance of safety measures, especially during peak travel periods like Chuseok.
