Police said a 15-year-old boy was killed and three others were injured in a shooting in Stockholm on Saturday.

In the early evening, police received reports of a shooting near a square in southern Stockholm and discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. Two more people were found injured nearby.

Police said no motive has been identified.

The adolescent died as a result of his injuries, while the others were rushed to the hospital.

A spokeswoman for Stockholm police, Towe Hagg said, “The person who died at the scene is a boy aged 15”.

In a statement, police stated, “Another 15-year-old boy was injured, as were a male and a woman aged between 45 to 65”.

They further stated that two males were apprehended shortly after the shooting during a car chase south of Stockholm.

According to police, an inquiry into the murder and attempted murder has been initiated.

Another three persons were hurt in two separate gunshots in the Stockholm area on Friday.

Sweden has failed to contain a recent spike in shootings and explosions as gangs settle scores fueled by the narcotics trade.

According to police records, the country recorded 391 gunshots in 2022, 62 of which were deadly, an increase from 45 the previous year.
