For the first time, Google will provide navigation support at the Mahakumbh Mela. This initiative marks a historic policy shift for the tech giant, which has now included a temporary city in its navigation system. The Mahakumbh Mela Authority signed an MoU with Google, ensuring that millions of devotees can easily find ghats, temples, and Akharas. This feature is set to launch in late November or early December.
Google has modified its policy to include Mahakumbh, recognizing the event’s significance and massive turnout. Previously, Google Maps only covered permanent cities. This change will allow devotees to locate key sites in the temporary Mahakumbh city, like main roads, ghats, and prominent saints, through Google navigation.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath supports this initiative, emphasizing digital technology’s role in enhancing the Mahakumbh experience. The feature aims to assist over 450 million domestic and international visitors, providing real-time navigation on their phones.
With Maps, visitors can now find destinations like Sangam Ghat and Akharas without asking for directions. This digital support brings a modern touch to the traditional event, underscoring Mahakumbh’s global spiritual importance.
