The Amroha district administration in Uttar Pradesh has made the decision to submit a proposal to the state government for the construction of a gymnasium and a mini-stadium in the ancestral village of Mohammed Shami, the country’s best fast-bowler.
The Amroha district administration made its decision in response to Shami’s outstanding 2023 men’s ODI World Cup performance.
District Magistrate Rajesh Tyagi (IAS), who is speaking about it, stated, “We have been sending a proposal to construct a mini stadium in the village of Mohammed Shami.” There will also be an open gymnasium under that proposal. That is where we have enough land (in the village of Shami).
He further said, “The (Uttar Pradesh) government passed instructions to construct 20 stadiums across the state and district Amroha’s stadium was also selected for it.”
A group led by DM Tyagi also went to Shami village on Friday in order to find a suitable plot of land for the construction of the gymnasium and mini-stadium.
Mohammed Shami is notably from the Sahaspur Alinagar village in the Uttar Pradesh district of Amroha.
