Kuwait Couple’s Marriage Ends In 3 Minutes After Groom’s Insult

A couple in 2019 set a record for the shortest marriage in history after their union was annulled just three minutes post-ceremony. The incident, recently resurfacing on social media, involved a bride who tripped as she and her new husband were leaving the courthouse. The groom’s response was to call her “stupid,” which enraged the bride. She promptly requested the judge to annul their marriage, and the judge complied, dissolving the marriage within minutes of it being formalized.

The story has gained traction online, with many users weighing in on the groom’s lack of respect. One person on X (formerly Twitter) remarked, “I attended a wedding where the groom’s speech was more of a roast of his wife, and the father of the bride joined in. The bride should have done what this woman did.” Another user commented, “A marriage without respect is doomed from the start.” Yet another added, “If he behaves this way right at the start, it’s better to leave him.”

This case follows a similarly short-lived marriage in the UK in 2004. Scott McKie and Victoria Anderson ended their marriage just 90 minutes after their vows at the Stockport Register Office in Greater Manchester. The marriage unraveled after McKie made an offensive toast to the bride’s bridesmaids. An altercation ensued at the reception, where Victoria struck McKie with an ashtray. When police intervened, McKie assaulted two officers and spent the night in jail. Victoria, on the other hand, celebrated her newfound single status by canceling their planned honeymoon in Corfu.
