In Mirzapur, an uncontrolled Scorpio collided with a tree on Monday morning near the BHU campus under the Dehat Kotwali police station area. In the accident, the middle-aged man riding the Scorpio died, and six people, including the driver, were seriously injured.
The man, identified as Gopal Sonkar alias Duldul, was the father of Kajal, who had recently gotten married on April 26. On April 28, the third day of the marriage, Gopal had gone to Jaunpur with the family to attend a banquet at his daughter’s in-laws house. However, during the program, a clash erupted with the daughter’s in-laws over some issue, prompting everyone to leave for home in a Scorpio early on Monday morning.
The Scorpio went out of control and collided with a tree on the roadside near the BHU campus located at Barkachha in the Dehat Kotwali area. The collision was so strong that the Scorpio was blown to pieces. Gopal Sonkar, alias Duldul, aged 53, his wife Sarvat Sonkar, aged 50, daughters Roopa and Chandni, nephew Rajkumar Sonkar, niece Aryan, and driver Mahendra, aged 23, were all seriously injured in the crash.
Upon receiving the information, the police sent all the injured individuals by ambulance to the Trauma Center, where doctors declared Gopal Sonkar alias Duldul dead. Seriously injured Sarvat Sonkar, Raj Sonkar, and Mahendra were referred to the Trauma Center in Varanasi. The police started taking legal action by conducting a Panchnama of the dead body and sending it for post-mortem examination.
