Dalai Lama, the popular spiritual leader is being trolled brutally. A video of the spiritual leader asking a boy to ‘suck his tongue’ went viral recently. Due to the same, the public felt outrageous against the spiritual leader. He was getting a lot of hateful comments and messages.
Now, Dalai Lama has issued an apology in the same case.
The Buddhist monk’s official Twitter account expressed sadness for the “hurt” his statements caused and apologized to the youngster in the popular video, his family, and “friends all over the world.” He tends to communicate with others in a “playful and innocent” manner, the statement continued.
“A video clip has been circulating that shows a recent meeting when a young boy asked His Holiness the Dalai Lama if he could give him a hug. His Holiness wishes to apologize to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused. His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras. He regrets the incident,” the statement read.
In the widely seen pictures, the child was paying his respects when the Nobel Peace Prize winner stuck out his tongue and asked him to take a sip. As a result of the occurrence, several online users voiced outrage and displeasure, calling it “creepy,” “disgusting,” and “repulsive.” Users also discussed the disturbing actions of other individuals shown in the video, who appeared unconcerned by the situation.

The spiritual leader stated in an interview in 2019 that a woman should be “more attractive” if she were to succeed him. Outrage was caused by this comment.
The leader joked to the media, “If a female Dalai Lama comes, she should be more attractive.” After that, he made a twisted face and claimed that “people, I think, prefer not to see that face” if a female Dalai Lama had a particular appearance.
The his holiness answered, “I think both,” when asked if that might be seen as objectifying in contrast to a person’s inherent worth.
Later, he expressed regret for his remarks. His Holiness honestly meant no disrespect, according to his office, and he “sincerely regrets that people have been hurt by what he said and offers his sincere apologies.”
