Rain and thunderstorms are likely to bring some relief from pollution in Delhi-NCR, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a change in weather conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Strong winds have already helped improve air quality in parts of the region, although pollution remains a concern.
Delhi is likely to record a maximum temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, with humidity between 45 and 55 per cent.
The capital is likely to see partly cloudy skies on October 7 and 8, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 34 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures may dip slightly on October 9, with the maximum expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius. Partly cloudy skies are likely to continue on October 10 and 11, with daytime temperatures staying between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius.
According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Mundka recorded an AQI of 280, followed by Narela at 255, Okhla Phase 2 at 223 and North Campus at 205, placing these areas in the poor category.
Several other parts of Delhi also recorded elevated pollution levels, including Mandir Marg at 160, Najafgarh at 166, Nehru Nagar at 145, NSUT Jafarpur at 154 and Patparganj at 149.
Noida’s Sector 116 recorded an AQI of 267, while Sector 62 stood at 185. Sector 125 and Sector 1 recorded 136 and 137, respectively.
Ghaziabad saw worse pollution, with Sanjay Nagar at 322 and Wave City at 305. Vasundhara recorded 243, while Govindpuram and Indirapuram stood at 148 and 151.
Rainfall and strong winds could help disperse pollutants and improve air quality further. However, experts warn that pollution could build up again if wind speeds fall after the rain.
