Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday confirmed her marriage to senior advocate and former BJD MP Pinaki Misra, ending a day of speculation sparked by a viral photo of the couple.
Earlier in the day, a picture showing Moitra, dressed in gold and holding Misra’s hand, circulated widely on social media, prompting media inquiries. Moitra, however, remained silent until the evening.
She later posted on her X handle, sharing the image and writing, “Thank you everyone for the love and good wishes!! So grateful.”
Sources confirmed the wedding took place in Berlin on May 30.
This is the second marriage for both Moitra and Misra. Moitra was previously married to Danish financier Lars Brorson. Misra has a son and a daughter from his previous marriage.
Pinaki Misra Served as a Lok Sabha MP from Puri between 1996 and 2024. He was elected first as a Congress member and later as a BJD leader. He did not contest the 2024 general elections.
Mahua Moitra entered Parliament in 2019 after winning from West Bengal’s Krishnanagar constituency. Her first tenure was cut short due to her expulsion in the ‘cash for query’ controversy.
She returned to the Lok Sabha in 2024 with another victory from the same seat. Before her parliamentary role, she served as an MLA from Karimpur in Nadia district.
