A video allegedly showing a snake inside a moving train has gone viral on social media, alarming passengers.
The footage reportedly shows the reptile crawling out from beneath a side lower berth in a sleeper coach.
Someone shared the video on X, claiming that passengers spotted the snake aboard the Katihar Express travelling towards Kolkata at night.

A disturbing scene was reportedly witnessed on the Katihar Express while travelling towards Kolkata at night—a long snake was seen emerging from beneath a Side Lower berth in a moving train.

The post described the incident as disturbing and questioned whether the sleeper coach had become a habitat for snakes.
The footage shows the snake emerging from beneath the side lower berth and moving through the coach. Passengers can be heard reacting with alarm as some people try to drive the reptile away.
The snake then moves towards a door and hides behind it, leaving part of its body visible.
Some social media users claimed that the snake resembles a common krait, a venomous species found in India. However, the footage does not clearly identify the species, and no independent verification has established what type of snake it was.
The incident has sparked reactions online, with users commenting on the reported presence of snakes on trains.
One user joked that the Railways may soon need to create a ‘Chief Snake Catching Officer’ post amid reports of snakes appearing in train coaches, air-conditioned compartments and even engines.
The video continues to circulate on social media, but the circumstances surrounding the footage remain unclear. The authenticity of the video and the claim that it was recorded aboard the Katihar Express have not been independently verified.
