DGCA: 444 Flights Expected To Be Cancelled On March 1 Amid Middle East Airspace Closures

Airspace closures across Iran and several Middle Eastern countries have forced airlines to cancel 444 flights on March 1, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said.

The regulator added that domestic carriers cancelled 410 flights on February 28 due to restrictions over Iranian and neighbouring Middle Eastern airspace.

The continuing curbs have forced airlines to reroute or suspend services, particularly on international sectors traversing the affected region.

In a post on X, the DGCA stated that major airports across India remain on operational alert to manage potential diversions and ensure seamless passenger facilitation.

Senior officials are monitoring passenger assistance, airline coordination and crowd management on the ground.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said it is working closely with airlines to ensure compliance with safety norms, while the Passenger Assistance Control Room continues to address concerns.

On February 28, AirSewa received 216 grievances and resolved 105 the same day.

Authorities reiterated that passenger safety remains the top priority.

Earlier, the Ministry of Civil Aviation directed international carriers to monitor airspace advisories and reroute flights after US–Israel military action against Iran triggered Middle East closures.

The Airports Authority of India and private operators have strengthened coordination to manage ground support and minimise disruption.
