Delhi Weather Update: Light Rain Likely On August 19-20, Heavy Showers Unlikely

Delhi-NCR residents continued to endure hot and humid conditions as the wait for heavy monsoon rain.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies for Tuesday, August 18, with only a low possibility of significant rainfall in the National Capital.

The weather office has predicted light to moderate rain in isolated parts of Delhi between the morning and afternoon on August 19 and 20.

The chances of heavy rainfall remain low across the city during the week.

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 27.8 degrees Celsius on Monday, 1.3 degrees above normal, while the maximum temperature settled at around 35.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees above the seasonal average.

High humidity further increased discomfort, with relative humidity ranging between 58 and 84 per cent over the past 24 hours.

For Tuesday, the IMD has forecast generally cloudy conditions with very little chance of rain.

The minimum temperature is expected to remain between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius, while the maximum could reach 32 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Northwest winds are likely to blow at 10-15 kmph.

Very light to light rain may occur in isolated areas from the morning through the afternoon.

The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall across several states and Union Territories.

Strong winds of up to 65 kmph, thunderstorms and lightning may accompany the rain in some areas.

The IMD has issued heavy rain alerts for several states, with landslide warnings in some hilly areas.

Despite the humidity, Delhi’s air quality remained ‘moderate’, with Wazirpur recording the highest AQI at 186.
