Delhi Weather Today: IMD Forecasts Rain, Thunderstorms Across Delhi-NCR

Residents across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are likely to witness another spell of monsoon rain on Thursday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting cloudy skies, intermittent showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The rain will bring relief from the heat and humidity, although waterlogging and traffic congestion could disrupt daily life in several areas.

The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall across Delhi, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds in isolated places.

The showers will likely bring down daytime temperatures, though humidity will remain high.

The maximum temperature will range between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will remain around 27 degrees Celsius.

Neighbouring NCR cities, including Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad, will also receive light to moderate rainfall. Some areas may witness brief heavy showers, lightning and strong winds.

Authorities have advised commuters to plan their journeys carefully, as waterlogging in low-lying areas could cause traffic delays.

The IMD has also forecast widespread rainfall across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several regions, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and wind speeds of 40–60 kmph. It has urged residents to follow safety advisories.

Active monsoon conditions and moisture from the Bay of Bengal are expected to keep rainfall widespread across northern and eastern India until at least August 1.

In Uttar Pradesh, districts including Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Noida are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.

Authorities have advised farmers, travellers and two-wheeler riders to remain cautious.
