Delhi Weather: IMD Forecasts More Rain Through August 15, Temperatures To Stay Normal

Delhi-NCR is likely to remain under predominantly cloudy skies as intermittent showers will likely affect the region in the coming days.

The India Meteorological Department has indicated that temperatures could remain around normal levels or marginally lower.

The capital may experience brief spells of very light rainfall on August 12 and 13.

The IMD expects one or two episodes of rain during these dates, although the accumulated rainfall is unlikely to be substantial.

Winds will change direction in the coming days. They will blow from the northeast towards the southwest on August 12 before shifting to northwesterly and westerly directions on August 13, with speeds of around 10-15 kmph.

Light to very light showers may affect parts of Delhi on August 14 and 15.

Winds will blow at around 10-15 kmph, with westerly winds on August 14 and northwesterly winds on August 15.

The weather agency expects maximum temperatures to show little variation during the next seven days.

Although occasional rain may keep daytime temperatures under control, persistent humidity could continue to make conditions uncomfortable.

Delhi-NCR has witnessed widespread rainfall since Friday, with several locations recording intense showers over the weekend.

The extended rainy spell has brought down daytime temperatures. The wet conditions have also caused waterlogging and traffic congestion across multiple areas.

IMD records show that August 8 emerged as the wettest day of the month in Delhi over the past two years.

The capital received 98.7 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending Sunday morning. This marked the highest single-day August rainfall since 2024.

Delhi’s minimum temperature stood at 26.5°C on Sunday, while the day’s maximum was forecast to reach nearly 34°C.

Delhi’s air quality continued to remain in the moderate category on Monday despite the recent rainfall. Anand Vihar registered an AQI of 157, while North Campus recorded 287.

Other monitoring stations reported AQI readings of 88 at Chandni Chowk, 63 at Pusa, 59 at JNU, 86 at ITO, 93 at IIT Delhi, 75 near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, 65 at Patparganj and 79 at Narela.
