Delhi Weather: Hot, Humid Conditions To Persist As Rain Stays Away

Delhi-NCR continued to experience hot and humid conditions on Wednesday, with bright sunshine and no immediate relief from rainfall.

The national capital has remained largely dry in recent days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting mainly clear skies on September 23 and 24.

The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to stay near 24 degrees Celsius.

Partly cloudy conditions may develop on September 25, followed by generally cloudy skies on September 26.

The IMD has not issued any weather warning for Delhi during this period.

The absence of rain comes even as several parts of eastern and southern India are witnessing intense rainfall activity due to a Deep Depression over the Bay of Bengal.

The IMD said the system is moving west-northwestwards and will cross the North Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coast between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur by the night of September 23.

The system is likely to bring heavy to extremely heavy rainfall to parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. It may trigger significant rainfall across Telangana, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Vidarbha.

The system could bring thunderstorms, lightning and strong surface winds to several areas as it moves inland.

Delhi’s air quality remained moderate, with Chandni Chowk recording the highest AQI of 224, followed by CRRI Mathura Road at 219 and Wazirpur at 209. Other stations reported moderate readings.

With rainfall absent from the immediate forecast, the hot and humid conditions are likely to persist across the capital.

The IMD’s extended outlook indicates the possibility of thunderstorms and rain in Delhi later in the week, with such conditions forecast for September 27 and 28.
