Delhi Weather: Heavy Rain Brings Relief As More Showers Forecast Through August 15

Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Delhi-NCR on Monday, bringing relief from prevailing heat and humidity.

The intermittent showers lowered daytime temperatures and improved weather conditions across the region.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is likely to receive another spell of very light rainfall on August 12 and 13, with one or two spells expected.

Overall precipitation, however, is likely to remain limited.

At the same time, winds will likely change direction over the coming days.

On August 12, winds are likely to blow from northeast to southwest, shifting from northwest to west on August 13, with speeds of 10-15 kmph.

The IMD has forecast light to very light rainfall across several parts of Delhi on August 14 and 15.

Westerly winds are expected on August 14, followed by northwesterly winds on August 15.

Cloudy skies and occasional light rainfall are likely through the week.

Meteorologists have cautioned that humidity may persist. Maximum temperatures are likely to remain largely unchanged over the next seven days.

Delhi-NCR has recorded widespread rainfall since Friday, with several areas receiving heavy showers over the weekend.

While the rain has lowered daytime temperatures, it has also caused severe traffic congestion and waterlogging in several localities.

According to IMD data, August 8 was the rainiest day of the month in the last two years.

The capital recorded 98.7 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours before Sunday morning, marking the highest single-day August rainfall since 2024.

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.5 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was likely to remain around 34 degrees Celsius.

Delhi’s air quality remained in the moderate category on Monday. Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 157, Chandni Chowk 88, Pusa 63, JNU 59, North Campus 287, ITO 86, IIT Delhi 93, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium 75, Patparganj 65 and Narela 79.
