Delhi-NCR Weather: Light Rain Expected As IMD Forecasts Showers Across North India

Delhi is likely to experience cloudy skies and intermittent light rain this week, while air quality remained largely in the moderate category on Wednesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several parts of the country.

Delhi may record a maximum of 33°C and a minimum of 26°C. Safdarjung and Palam recorded light rain, while favourable monsoon conditions may bring more showers.

The active monsoon trough is likely to keep skies cloudy and temperatures relatively pleasant.

While showers could cause localised waterlogging and traffic disruptions, the IMD has not indicated any major severe weather threat for Delhi at present.

The forecast follows heavy rainfall across Delhi-NCR on August 25, which caused waterlogging in several areas and disrupted traffic.

The IMD had issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rain in the capital.

Uttarakhand is likely to receive widespread rainfall until August 31, with isolated heavy to very heavy showers expected on August 26 and August 30-31.

Uttar Pradesh may witness widespread rain until August 27, with heavy showers forecast on August 26 and 27.

Himachal Pradesh is expected to see isolated to scattered rainfall between August 26 and 31.

Madhya Pradesh may receive widespread rain on August 26, followed by isolated showers through August 31, with heavy rainfall likely in some areas.

Delhi’s air quality remained moderate. AQI readings included 106 in Rohini and Ashok Vihar, 143 at CRRI Mathura Road and 147 in Anand Vihar.

Several other areas recorded satisfactory to moderate air quality.

Residents have been advised to monitor the latest weather updates as conditions may change during the week.
