Why Are Investors Placing Bigger Bets On Delhi-NCR Startups In 2026?

Startup funding in the Delhi NCR technology ecosystem stood at $1.7 billion across 110 transactions during the first quarter of 2026, according to a report released by Tracxn Technologies on Monday.

Although the total funding was slightly lower than the $1.9 billion raised in Q1 2025, the report highlighted a growing preference among investors for selective high-value investments rather than a larger number of deals.

The number of funding rounds dropped from 153 a year earlier to 110 this quarter. Three major deals alone contributed $1.2 billion, accounting for nearly 71 per cent of the total capital raised during the period.

Tracxn stated that the trend reflected ‘a market in retreat; but a market in selection’ rather than a slowdown in investor activity.

Late-stage startups attracted the largest share of funding at $1.2 billion.

Early-stage companies secured $362 million, while seed-stage ventures received $147 million.

Among sectors, enterprise infrastructure emerged as the biggest funding destination with investments worth $869.1 million, a sharp rise compared to Q4 2025.

Environment technology ranked second after attracting $434 million, followed by enterprise applications.

Together, these three segments received more than $1.5 billion in quarterly funding. The trend indicated strong investor preference for infrastructure-driven and long-term business models.

Data centre providers topped the list of business categories after raising $710 million through a single deal.

Advanced solar energy generation firms secured $344 million, while marketing optimisation companies attracted $150 million.

Consumer-focused sectors also featured among the leading investment categories. These included online grocery platforms, electric vehicle manufacturers and EV charging solutions. The sectors, however, received comparatively smaller investments.

The report further noted that Gurugram accounted for 52 per cent of total funding in the region. Noida followed with 27 per cent, while Delhi contributed 20 per cent.

Delhi NCR also recorded nine acquisitions during the quarter, while only one company entered the IPO market.
