Snapdragon Wear Elite: Qualcomm’s Most Powerful Wearable Chip Yet

Qualcomm has expanded its Elite branding to the wearable segment with the launch of the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor.

Following the debut of the Snapdragon X Elite for PCs in 2023 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite for flagship Android smartphones in 2024, the company has now introduced its first Elite-tier chipset for smartwatches and AI-driven wearables.

The Snapdragon Wear Elite marks a significant upgrade over previous Snapdragon Wear platforms.

Built on an advanced 3nm manufacturing process — an improvement over the 4nm Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 — the new chip is engineered for smartwatches, AI pins and AI pendants.

The processor features a five-core CPU configuration, comprising one high-performance core clocked at 2.1GHz and four efficiency cores running at 1.9GHz.

Qualcomm has not revealed the exact core architecture but confirmed the chip does not use Oryon cores, while claiming up to five times better single-threaded CPU performance than previous wearable chips.

The Snapdragon Wear Elite also delivers up to seven times higher GPU performance and features upgraded AI hardware, including an embedded NPU and the first dedicated Hexagon NPU in a Snapdragon wearable platform.

It supports on-device AI models with up to two billion parameters and processes up to 10 tokens per second, enabling smart replies, text generation and AI fitness coaching directly on the device.

Qualcomm claims up to 30 per cent longer battery life and fast charging to 50 per cent in 10 minutes, with further gains expected from silicon-carbon batteries.

The chipset supports 5G RedCap, micro-power Wi-Fi, satellite connectivity, Bluetooth 6.0, GNSS and UWB, although features will vary by device. Qualcomm expects the first products to launch in the second half of 2026.
