Samsung’s latest foldables—Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7—have outperformed expectations.
The Fold 7 recorded a 50% increase in sales compared to its previous version in the United States, marking the strongest-ever launch for a Galaxy Z Fold device.
Combined global pre-orders for the Fold 7 and Flip 7 increased by over 25%, while mobile carriers reported a 60% surge in interest.
Samsung credited this to ongoing product refinement, improved design, and increased public awareness.
Company executives said the strong numbers reflect how foldables have reached a ‘turning point’ and are now being accepted by the wider market as a serious smartphone alternative.
In a notable shift, the Fold 7 has overtaken the Flip 7 in pre-orders in South Korea, claiming 60% of initial sales despite traditionally trailing behind the flip model.
Analysts attribute this to growing demand for larger foldable screens, especially among business users and professionals.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 features a lighter, thinner design—just 215 g and 8.9 mm folded—making it the most compact Galaxy Fold to date.
It includes a redesigned Armour FlexHinge, claimed to reduce screen creasing and offer improved durability.
Samsung says the Fold 7 can withstand up to 500,000 folds, equivalent to nearly 10 years of average daily use. This significant boost addresses past concerns over foldable longevity.
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, features Galaxy AI integration, and includes a 200 MP rear camera with professional-grade imaging tools.
Enhanced multitasking and productivity features, including deeper integration with Google’s Gemini Live and on-device AI, are also part of the experience.
Meanwhile, the Z Flip 7 has also shown improved uptake, particularly among younger users looking for compact, stylish phones with flagship capabilities.
In India, the Fold 7 and Flip 7 saw an overwhelming response with over 210,000 pre-orders in just 48 hours, nearly matching the figures seen during the Galaxy S25 launch.
The Fold 7 went out of stock in key cities, leading Samsung to ramp up production at its Noida manufacturing plant to meet demand.
The Indian variant includes all global features, with select offers on trade-in and bundled AI services available through major retailers.
With foldables finally breaking into the mainstream, Samsung appears to be reaping the rewards of steady innovation and consumer engagement.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7, in particular, has redefined expectations around what a premium smartphone can deliver—blending cutting-edge hardware, practical form, and intelligent software into a compelling flagship package.
