Samsung Electronics has announced support for compatibility between its Android-based Quick Share platform and AirDrop, enabling seamless file transfers across devices.
The feature, available from Monday, allows users of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series to exchange photos, videos, contacts, and other files with iPhones running iOS.
Both Quick Share and AirDrop rely on Bluetooth technology to detect nearby devices and transfer content, but they previously lacked interoperability.
Samsung said the AirDrop compatibility will initially roll out to the Galaxy S26 series, with plans to expand support to more devices in the near future.
The company will also introduce the feature in key global markets, including the United States and Europe.
The company said the update improves user convenience by enabling smoother interaction between devices operating on different ecosystems, bridging the long-standing gap between Android and iOS platforms.
In a related development, Samsung has also introduced a new Car-to-Home service in partnership with Hyundai Motor Group.
The service enables users to control home appliances through the SmartThings platform directly from their vehicles, enhancing connected living experiences.
Drivers can operate appliances such as air conditioners, air purifiers, and robot vacuum cleaners using in-car infotainment systems.
Features like ‘home mode’ allow users to switch on appliances before reaching home, while ‘away mode’ ensures unused devices are turned off and cleaning systems are activated.
The service is currently available on select Hyundai and Kia vehicles produced after November 2022, with further expansion planned through software updates.
