Seventy-six per cent of Indians trust artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, far surpassing the global average of 46 per cent, KPMG reported on Tuesday.
KPMG surveyed over 48,000 people across 47 countries and highlighted India as a global leader in AI trust and adoption.
The report, Trust, Attitudes and Use of Artificial Intelligence: A Global Study 2025, showed India’s strong optimism and readiness for AI in daily life and work.
Ninety per cent of Indian respondents said AI improved accessibility and efficiency across sectors. They described AI as a powerful, transformative force in India.
Ninety-seven per cent of Indian workers said they intentionally use AI at work. Sixty-seven per cent said they cannot complete tasks without it. Globally, only 58 per cent reported using AI intentionally, and just 31 per cent use it regularly.
Professor Nicole Gillespie and Dr Steve Lockey from Melbourne Business School led the study with KPMG. They analysed how people around the world perceive and use AI.
Akhilesh Tuteja from KPMG India said Indians lead in using AI ethically and innovatively. He urged policymakers to build strong governance systems to support responsible AI use.
Professor Gillespie said people worldwide want developers and governments to build AI with security and transparency. She stressed the need for trust and governance to drive AI adoption.
Eighty-six per cent of Indians said they personally experienced AI benefits like higher productivity, better innovation, and less time on repetitive tasks.
The report showed Indians outpace advanced economies in AI training. Seventy-eight per cent feel confident using AI, 64 per cent received training, and 83 per cent believe they can use AI tools effectively.
