Apple is preparing to launch the AirPods Pro 3 during its September 9 keynote, alongside the highly anticipated iPhone 17 lineup.
Apple will give the new earbuds a redesigned look, advanced health-tracking features, and improved performance, making them the company’s most advanced wireless earbuds yet.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman earlier claimed the AirPods Pro 3 were just ‘months away’, and with Apple’s history of announcing new earbuds during September events, industry watchers believe a debut is highly likely.
Despite strong speculation around a 2025 launch, reports from May and June suggested Apple may delay the AirPods Pro 3 until 2026. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also backed the later timeline, noting that Apple’s plan to integrate infrared (IR) cameras into the earbuds could be contributing to the delay.
Apple will give the AirPods Pro 3 a new design after keeping earlier models nearly identical for years. The company has reportedly added a faster H3 chip to deliver improved active noise cancellation.
Apple has also filed a patent that hints at new touch controls. Users could perform vertical control gestures on a non-capacitive surface, meaning volume adjustments might even work while wearing gloves.
Apple is expected to equip the earbuds’ charging case with USB-C connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4 for reduced latency, and a slimmer, lighter form factor.
Apple is reportedly giving the AirPods Pro 3 a major health-focused upgrade. The earbuds may include in-ear heart rate monitoring and temperature sensors, reflecting Apple’s broader push into health and wellness features across its ecosystem.
These additions would put the AirPods Pro 3 in line with Apple’s health-first approach seen in the Apple Watch and other wearables.
There will be several features introduced in iOS 26 over to the new earbuds. These include:
Apple is also testing infrared cameras for future AirPods, which could support AI-driven features, spatial audio enhancements, and even gesture-based controls.
Although Apple has not confirmed pricing, analysts expect the AirPods Pro 3 to cost more than the current AirPods Pro 2, which retail for ₹24,900 in India. The potential price increase would reflect the new hardware, health-tracking sensors, and advanced software features.
