Apple Boosts iPhone Experience With iOS 26; Unveils watchOS 26 And iPadOS 26

Apple on Monday previewed iOS 26 at its flagship developer conference, WWDC 2025, showcasing a major update with a beautiful new design, smarter experiences, and key app enhancements.

The update makes iOS more expressive and delightful, while keeping it instantly familiar for users.

With iOS 26, the Phone and Messages apps receive upgrades that improve connectivity and reduce distractions like spam calls.

Apple also introduced new features in CarPlay, Maps, Wallet, and Music. A new app, Apple Games, gives players one destination for all their games.

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, stated, “iOS 26 shines with a gorgeous new design and meaningful improvements. It makes the iPhone even more helpful and personal.”

He further added that new capabilities across the system make it easier for users to stay focused and get tasks done.

Liquid Glass adds clarity and vitality

The update features Liquid Glass – a translucent material that reflects surroundings, creating a vibrant look across the system.

The Home and Lock Screens now allow more personalisation. On the Lock Screen, the time adapts to images, and spatial scenes create a 3D effect as users move their device.

A streamlined Camera layout helps users stay focused while capturing moments.

The redesigned Photos app introduces Library and Collections views. Safari gets a fresh look, with web pages flowing from top to bottom and quick access to actions like refresh and search.

In Music, News, and Podcasts, the tab bar now floats above content and shrinks while browsing, returning when users scroll back.

watchOS 26, iPadOS 26, and visionOS 26 also unveiled

Apple also introduced watchOS 26, which features Liquid Glass and smarter functions like Workout Buddy and Smart Stack hints. The Workout app includes new layouts and curated music based on user preferences.

iPadOS 26 delivers Apple’s biggest iPadOS update yet, with a redesigned look and a powerful new windowing system. It lets users control and switch between apps more intuitively. Craig Federighi called it ‘our biggest iPadOS release ever’.

The company also previewed visionOS 26, an expansive update for Apple Vision Pro. It adds new spatial experiences and features that enhance the immersive ecosystem.

With these updates, Apple aims to make its ecosystem more personal, powerful, and expressive than ever before.
